About Us

Hollis Jamaica Friends and Family Inc. was founded with a clear vision: to create a nonprofit organization that would serve as a bridge between the community and the resources, rights, and opportunities they deserve. Our organization was born from a recognition that many community members needed better access to information about their rights, safety resources, and support systems.

What started as a grassroots initiative has grown into a recognized charitable organization that collaborates with government agencies, community leaders, and residents to address pressing community concerns. We believe that informed, empowered communities are the foundation of a thriving society.

HOLLIS JAMAICA FRIENDS AND FAMILY INC. is a socio-economic and community development organization. Our mission is:

• Create Awareness: To create awareness among the community and community at large concerning their safety, social and constitutional rights.
• Collaborate with Government: To work with various government agencies, community-based organizations and elected officials to communicate and resolve issues and concerns of the people living in the community.
• Improve Quality of Life: To act as an umbrella organization to create, support, sponsor initiatives and programs to help improve the quality of life for residents living in the State of New York.
• Community Engagement: To engage in multicultural events, seminars, educational programs, job training programs and provide other social services to the community.

HOLLIS JAMAICA FRIENDS AND FAMILY INC. is organized under section 402 of the Not-for-Profit Corporation Law as a type A corporation pursuant to section 201 of the Not-for-Profit Corporation Law. The organization is organized exclusively for charitable purposes and approved under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service Code.
